When you’re looking for a nostalgic throwback, you might just find it in The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. With RPCS3, this game can be played almost flawlessly from start to finish. That is, assuming that your system is good enough for both the game and the emulator. If you don’t have the right graphics card, you might just find that you encounter a few little bugs.

In the final installment of the Spyro Trilogy, you get the opportunity to enjoy flying whenever you want to. This is pretty unique, especially when you consider the fact that this was not an option in any of the previous Spyro games. You also get to play co-op with Cynder, one of Spyro’s enemies in the previous games. Luckily, she was freed from The Dark Master by Spyro and has since evolved into a heroine of her own creation.
One of our favorite things about playing Spyro with the RPCS3 emulator is the fact that the frame rate is uncapped. You don’t need to install any additional patches for this, it will naturally run at above 60FPS without any interference. This means that Spyro will run really smoothly, as long as you’re using a monitor with a decent refresh rate.
Ratchet & Clank
If you’re going to be playing games like The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon that fill you with nostalgia, you should probably be playing Ratchet & Clank too. First appearing on the PS2, Ratchet & Clank have been making waves among gamers ever since.
We have noticed that there are a couple of little crashes on the RPCS3 with some of the Ratchet & Clank games, but these are things that the developers will currently be working on behind the scenes. We can’t wait to see what they all do. It is important to note that most games will crash on the RPCS3 eventually, the primary issue is when they crash.
We’re big fans of A Crack in Time. In this Ratchet & Clank Game, Dr Nefarious kidnaps Clank and it’s time for Ratchet to take a helping hand from Lombax to save his robot friend. Otherwise, Dr Nefarious could be left with control of time…one thing that Ratchet won’t be able to fight against. The time-manipulation gameplay definitely makes this one worthwhile, even if you’ve never played Ratchet & Clank before.
Sonic Unleashed
Games like Sonic Unleashed are often amazing options for anyone who is interested in RPCS3 emulation. These are games that often don’t have PC counterparts, meaning that you really are limited in your options. One thing to note with a lot of games that are available with the RPCS3 emulator is that some of them do have PC versions. Generally speaking, these might be better options than the PS3 versions that can be emulated.
Sonic Unleashed is one of the games that can be played on the RPCS3 with a really high frame rate, as long as your computer has the specs to handle that. This definitely improves the overall gaming experience, especially when you compare it to the early 20FPS emulators.
Sonic Unleashed is pretty unique when compared to other Sonic games, blending scrolling platform gameplay with 3D visuals. The game starts with Sonic and Dr. Eggman, setting the scene with their animosity towards each other for the rest of the game.
Ni No Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch
One game that we have found runs flawlessly on RPCS3 would have to be Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. An enhanced version of Ni no Kuni: Dominion of the Dark Djinn, the gameplay follows a young boy attempting to save his mother. As with a lot of Bandai Namco role-playing games, this game is played from a third-person perspective.
While we played through this game without any errors, some people have found that their games crash when emulating them. In our experience, this is usually linked to the components in your own computer. If your processor or graphics card aren’t as good as they could be, you might encounter a couple of errors and issues. Whenever issues are encountered, they can be logged on GitHub so that the developers can go in and work on them.
